Daniel Arsham Reveals an Eroded DeLorean Sculpture for his Upcoming NY Show

American artist Daniel Arsham took to Instagram to tease his upcoming show at Perrotin’s New York location, posting his eroded DeLorean sculpture. Although the gallery has not delivered an official press release on the upcoming exhibition,  news has traveled through the grapevine, that the opening of “3018” is set to be on September 8th. The highly anticipated show shortly follows his two concurrent exhibitions in Tokyo’s NANZUKA and Galerie Perrotin, both of which continued to develop the artist’s “Fictional Archaeology” concept.

The DeLorean is transformed by Ashram’s signature natural wear techniques, supplementing his ongoing aim to transform modern-day common objects into something that he envisions will be discovered by future archaeologists. After posting a mock-up sketch of the sculpture dated in 2009, it is assumed the plan for this iconic car has been long in development. Although the artist has provided us with glimpses of the piece, it's final form will be a showstopper that cannot be missed IRL.
