Preview Cleon Peterson's Latest Show 'Blood & Soil' Uncovering Humanity's Struggle for Power

Clean Peterson's newest exhibit, “Blood & Soil” opened this weekend at Los Angeles' gallery Over The Influence. Peterson spearheads topics such as America’s power dynamics and the underlying chaos and violence that is present in the current political state. These themes depicted within his works are treated with brutalist and graphic tones of black, white and blood-like red, intensifying each scene. Often noted that his style resembles the Greco-Roman statues and pottery, Cleon's portryal of our modern-day violence dynamics are juxtaposed by old-world history.

“Blood & Soil,” a phrase borrowed from white supremacists, and also formerly used by the Nazis, is Peterson’s most abrasive exploration of today’s politics. His pieces become hauntingly unforgettable after the viewer is faced with the dark human impulses hidden among society. With the ongoing cultural crisis and injustices plaguing our nation’s government, Cleon uses his platform to reveal truths and face the powerful. Along with his recognizable dramatic paintings, complementing bronze sculptures are also being exhibited at the space. The show will be open until August 15th.
