See Everything That Went Down at the ASICS WTG Initiative in Berlin
Last Wednesday we held the first ASICS WTG initiative outside the Parisian city limits. The now-global project is a collaboration with ASICS, which aims to bridge the sneaker companies Japanese roots with a worldwide audience. The brutalist St. Agnes church in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district was selected to hold the inaugural event. Playing on the high concrete walls, an immersive light exhibition created in collaboration with French studio ExperiensS, highlighted three ASICS runners, the Skysensor, Tarther and Japan Seiha 2. Previously only sold in Japan, these high-performance models are being showcased and sold in the European market for the first time.
Other than the hypnotic lighting display, the experience featured an AR poster exhibition in which users could interact with through an event-specific app, which unlocked a hidden visual that transcended the static 2-D mediums. Surrounded by an enveloping red and blue light scheme and animated images, the minimalist concrete church was jam-packed with Berlin's creative scene. The already-elevated energy was amplified by the electric performances from German natives rapper Kelvyn Colt, producer Persian Empire, and DJ Not Your Girlfriend. Tokyo-based producer starRo headlined the evening with his eclectic curation and original mixes of groove-heavy tracks.
