Get an Up-Close View of the Parisian Skate Community in the Short Film 'Around The Block'
French directors Tristan Helias and Killian Lassablière have teamed up for a mini-doc, Around The Block, which takes an intimate look at the Parisian skate scene. The creative duo, who are also based in Paris, tap their local community of emerging skaters and follow their everyday life as they fill their ample time pushing around the French streets. The two-minute short is also accompanied by six separate portraits of six skaters, fittingly titled Paul, Victor, Ludovic, Ymard, Mickael, and Antoine.
These under-minute clips paint a clearer picture pf the lives of each individual as they search for potential spots and hangout with friends. The entire series is accompanied by a musical score from Maxime Hervé, which dictates the emotion through pulsating beats. With the backdrop of Paris’ dimly lit streets, this personal portrayal of Parisian skaters is a refreshing take on the free-spirited lifestyle, while also invoking a feeling of nostalgia.
