Nike's 2019 Tech Pack Collection is Inspired by the Everyday Urbanite
Nike’s inspiration for it’s new Tech Pack collection is the everyday person navigating an urban city. Instead of centering the design of its clothing around data collected from athletes, Nike applied it’s data-informed methodology to young commuters around the world. Kurt Parker, the VP of apparel design at Nike found that the needs of their sample was universal, “the kid in Shanghai was living a very similar existence to the kid in London and parts of the U.S.”
The range reflects the findings by utilizing engineered knits, fit for enhanced breathability, versatility and thermoregulation. Along with the innovative textiles, the designers catered the products to running and training, workouts central to class-based gyms popular in city centers. For women, key pieces like sports bras and skirts were constructed with utility and gym-to-everyday transitions in mind. The Spring 2019 Tech Pack will drop December 20th at select retailers and Nike online and physical stores.
