GIPHY is Accepting Submissions for the First-Ever 18-Second Film Festival
GIPHY, the massive online GIF database has announced a film festival that is the first of it’s kind, one that showcases loopable “micro films” of 18 seconds or less. Taking place on November 8th in New York City's Metrograph Theatre, The Giphy Film Festival is currently taking submissions until September 27th from anyone who follows their specific rules. Contestants can submit up to three looped, high-definition, and mp4 format films in either narrative, stop-motion, animated, experimental or other wildcard categories.
According to the official website, the festival creators "believe audiovisual storytelling does not have to be feature-length or even short length. We believe you can tell a compelling, creative, entertaining, professional-grade story in only 18 seconds or less." A grand-prize winner will receive a sum of $10,000, a five-years Squarespace subscription and the opportunity to curate an official guest playlist on Spotify.
