Read Between the Lines of Axel Morin's Emotive Visual Narratives
Photography as an art form, tool for expression, and visual storytelling technique is by far one of my favorite creative entities out there. Specifically due to the latter description, photography's ability to replace pictures with words is an incredible testament to its place as a universally understood form of artistic language. With a camera and a vision, the artist's angle, depth of field, perspective, focus, color choice and subject matter all work together as connecting sentences that make up a larger novel. An image-maker that undoubtedly captures the tale-revealing essence of the practice is Paris-based creator, Axel Morin. One moody, dreamy, and mysterious rendering at a time, Morin sucks you into his surreal photographic narratives.
Often dissected and rearranged into one beautiful ensemble of imagery, this director/photographer takes you on a journey with his emotive works of art, playing with lighting and contrast to give each piece its own feel. His intimate close-ups and cityscape portraits turn sideways, hang upside-down, or are found laced together like seemingly fitting pieces of different puzzles. Browse through some of his alluring photomontages below and follow the artist on Instagram to enhance your daily social media scrolling.
