Apparently back in the naughties, joyriding was a big past-time in Dublin. Statistics show that 22,000 cars were stolen in the capital in ’82 alone, well before Rejjie Snow was even born. As a nod to the city’s niche hobby, the Irish rapper takes to the wheel for a bit of joy ridin’ himself for the official music video for his track “Flexin’.” The song comes off of his upcoming full-length debut album Dear Annie, which is set to release sometime later on this year.
As for the video, the visuals bring on Director Jamie Delaney–who has collaborated with Rejjie in the past for “Snow” and “Lost In Empathy”–and sees the rapper along with two cohorts “borrow” a ’96 Beamer for a good ol’ fashioned spin around town in Dublin. Of what Rejjie has to say about it all, he quite simply tells i-D Magazine (which premiered the video) that “we were inspired by the infamous Dublin joyriding craze of the early noughties, so we just tried to capture that.” Check out the official music video to “Flexin'” in above, then make sure you check out more from Rejjie Snow from his Soundcloud page here.
