Nike has gone through a myriad of rendition on its famed Air Max innovation–a concept brought on to the footwear market and sneaker culture thanks to the legendary Tinker Hatfield that saw a shoe’s inner construction exposed. While the brand continues its month-long celebration of the Nike Air Max with many of its iterations, we’ve focused on the major brand’s latest offering: the Nike VaporMax. The first thing to note is that the VaporMax brings forth a completely new redesign of the exposed air sole unit. This was achieved thanks to the Beaverton-based team, who was able to figure out how to seamlessly blend both outersole and air bag cushioning into one unit composed entirely of TPU.
The shoe itself is stripped down to basic construction, with its Flyknit and Flywire upper making the shoe something that’s supposed to represent being lighter than air. The design was the results of the brand putting in over 30 years worth of research and design, and we’re happy to affirm that they’ve done an impressive job on a new shoe that will feel as good as it looks. Check out the Nike VaporMax and its two current colorways in detail above, then make sure you check back in with Nike come Nike Air Max Day on March 26, as that’s when the shoes will be officially dropping.
