While some of you relish in the excitement of tearing through working week so that you can run amuck amongst friends and strangers on a weekend-long bender, there are those of us that silently whither away from the stress of upcoming social obligations that the weekend brings. If you’re also like us and have been dreading that social event you promised you’d attend a week ago, then here’s a little something that will hopefully help lift your spirits enough to spirit yourself up in preparation for the onslaught of small talk – and yes, the latter “spirit” refers to hard liquor. What’s better still is that this is no ordinary playlist of music’s current climate of mainstream hits. Quite the opposite, as we’ve searched far and wide through Soundcloud to find some of the platforms most talented, yet surprisingly undiscovered artists.

In the mix you’ll find R&B crooners like Lamar Jay, followed by a few remix acts such as Party Pupils who offers a savage as remix of Outkast’s “Ms Jackson,” and krs. remixes’ rendition of Rihanna’s “Needed Me.”

The list includes singer/songwriters, producers, rappers and DJs all that have no more than 10k followers; our roster is an eclectic mix of talented music makers from all over that have had the nod of approval by more established folk such as DJ Esta, Ta-ku and KAYTRANADA to name a few, who have all chosen to follow the featured. In the mix you’ll find R&B crooners like Lamar Jay (who we hate to say, but it’s so damn obvious that we will, sounds just like Frank Ocean), followed by a few remix acts such as Party Pupils who offers a savage as remix of Outkast’s “Ms Jackson,” and krs. remixes’ rendition of Rihanna’s “Needed Me,” that she’s brilliantly titled “don’t need you.” From house and dance mixes to rap over uplifting instrumentals and then some, our Songs For The Weekend Hustle #1: Undiscovered Talents should do you right for now. After you’ve replayed the playlist for its 800th time and finally need to stop, I’m afraid you’re on your own – until we drop another list of straight fire that is. Enjoy the playlist below:
