Snoop Dogg Ain’t Clownin’ Around In BADBADNOTGOOD’s Video For “Lavender”
Always one to instill a good helping of comedy and parody into their visuals, Canadian jazz quartet BADBADNOTGOOD have put out another winner with their official music video for “Lavender.” The track itself comes as a Nightfall remix that brings on the production talents of fellow Canadian KAYTRANADA, and the ever-ill Snoop Dogg, who smacks us in the face with some hard-hitting truths about the current political landscape over haunting rhythms and beats by the aforementioned. While the original version appeared on BBNG’s IV album (2016), the remixed version appeared as a single only yesterday.
Following the track release, “Lavender” receives its official vignette that sees both James DeFina and YouTube personality Jesse Wellens of PrankvsPrank in the shared directors seat, with Snoop and Wellens both down as Executive producer. The narrative follows a world of clowns, where your typical social injustice is just as prevalent, yet exaggerated in a clown-appropriate way. Starring Snoop as himself, the video also sees Michael Rapaport come in to play Mr. Clown. You’ll also find a bevy of other real clown world antics such as streamers for blood, Harley Quinn impersonators, “Bang” guns, “Clown” box logo hoodies and weed (obviously).
