NxWorries’ Video For “Scared Money” is an Throwback Homage to the film ‘Paid in Full’
Neo soul crooner Anderson .Paak and the ever-awesome producer Knxledge have just served up another must-watch effort for their collaborative duo act NxWorries. Always ones to put out something visually dope to accompany their infectious music, this latest effort–where “dope” is very much an apt word to use given the period it represents–is no exception. Serving as the official music video for the record “Scared Money,” 12th down the track list of the two’s October 2016 album Yes lawd!, the Stones Throw-presented vignette takes direct inspiration from the Charles Stone III-directed drama/action film Paid in Full, which was set in 1988. In fact, it’s such an homage that you’ll find the two artists reenacting parts of the film itself–no surprise seeing as it’s a favorite film for them both.
The music video brings on Calmatic as its director, who’s no stranger to working with .Paak, as well as other notables such as Syd, The Internet, Kendrick Lamar, Jhene Aiko, KYLE, Esperanza Spalding and OverDoz to name a few. As a sweet treat for us NxWorries fans, the visuals follows its main chapters with an epilogue that sees a new remix of Yes Lawd!‘s “Best One,” which serves as a hint at an upcoming full-length Yes Lawd! remix album. There’s only one thing to say to that: Yes Lawd!
