Nike Goes Normcore With its new Low-Top Version of the Iconic Air Max2 CB 94 in “Triple White”
In case you haven’t heard, Nike wants you to know the ’90s are back, and the beloved 1994 signature sneaker of NBA Hall-Of-Famer Charles Barkley will soon make a comeback. The iconic shoe has seen countless colorway iterations, but this time around Nike is giving us a low top version in all white. The all-white look is apparently all the rage at Nike right now, who re-released several other retro sneaks from the ’90s last month in the “Triple White” color scheme: the Air More Uptempo, The Air Max2 Uptempo, and the Air Max Uptempo, to name a few.
In the latest rendition of the Air Max2 CB 94, Nike is giving us the classic leather upper dotted with perforations on the side panels, the same straitjacket-inspired lacing system, an extra-thick rubber midsole and outsole, and visible air cushioning around the heel. The upcoming sneaker will have basically all of the bells and whistles it’s famous for. The only minor tweak seems to be Nike’s decision to opt for a lower profile. The low top version makes this model extra friendly for streetwear, so be prepared to put up a fight to snag yours when the release date is announced.
