Do yourself a favor and take 10 minutes to witness this beautiful piece of skate cinema, Northbound. Skaters are known for taking on the challenge of conquering unknown terrains and this short film does not disappoint. Witness skaters Hermann Stene, Didrik Galasso, Henrik Lund, and Karsten Kleppan land tricks on ice, frozen sand barriers and driftwood along the Norwegian coastline. This poetic piece of cinema brings us into an unknown territory set against a backdrop of pastel-colored skies and whipping Norwegian winds.
It’s undecided what part of this film stands out the most to us, but it’s safe to say that the piece as a whole is nothing short of astounding. Beautifully captured on a RED Dragon camera by director Jørn Nyseth Ranum, he skillfully puts us viewers right on the frigid coastline with the skaters as the sounds of wheels, wind and crashing waves blend perfectly with a musical score composed by Erlend Elvesveen.
