Frank Ocean is without doubt one of our generation’s most creative musical talents. Coming from the rowdy skate/fashion/entertainment/music collective Odd Future, Ocean has carved a path in his own right as a musician, having put out incredibly respected and highly praised projects. From his debut Channel ORANGE–which still finds its way on to our daily playlist periodically–to his follow up sophomore album Blonde, Ocean offers us fans much more than just a compilation of good sounding R&B records, but also a voice that challenges social norms through topics such as the perception of masculinity and love.
Frank Ocean is also incredibly self-aware as an artist, and with that, he surrounds himself with a careful selection of others that he knows will elevate the work he puts out. This was the case with Swedish production team Jarami, who Ocean brought on for the production of his latest single release “Chanel.” Having worked with the likes of Janet Jackson and AlunaGeorge to name a few, the two that make up Jarami may be relatively undiscovered now, but it’s safe to say that we’ll be hearing much more of them to come. Have a listen to “Chanel” above, as well as their “The Jaramixes” playlist below.
