Hailed by Pitchfork as the “anchor” to Lil Yachty’s Sailing Team, as well as “the most talented member of the crew,” Kodie Shane is definitely a star on the rise. Her latest 10-track mixtape validates that with its constant flow of straight trap-R&B fire that we’ve been playing on repeat since discovering it. The Atlanta-born, Chicago-based singer/songwriter has already made an imprint with those in the know, with her previous EP drops: 2060, Little Rocket, and Zero Gravity, all of which come with her infectious vocal flow and wavy beats.

Her latest effort, interestingly dubbed Big Trouble Little Jupiter, continues her intergalactic theme, which is a aesthetic we can totally get behind, especially when it sounds like Kodie Shane. The latest mixtape effort also brings on the talents of producers Matty P, Stonii tha Melody God, D.Clax, Culture and Childish Major, and features a few of her fellow cohorts such as En Vogue & Saucy Longwe.

Having just signed on to Epic Records with a toast-to-coast tour embarking in February, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of Kodie Shane and her spacey, wavy, infectious good shit. Just make sure you get on board yourself. Have a listen to the Big Trouble Little Jupiter mixtape in full above, and watch out for more of Shane to come.
