Many of us, if not all of us, have either had thoughts or experiences within the privacy of our own homes where we’ve indulged ourselves a little more than we’d like others to know. Whether it’s care-free pigging out without showering for 3 days straight, or engaging in intimate acts with someone or your self that shouldn’t see the light of day, we’ve all been there, thought that, shouldn’t have done that before. This is why New York-based illustrator Ben Evan’s artwork that depicts these sort of scenes resonate so well. Familiar, yet not at the same time, exciting, yet gross… it’s our wildest secret desires in the best and worst ways.

When asked by Hunger TV in a recent interview where the inspiration comes from for his work, Evans jumps straight to it with the mention of intimacy, which of course plays a big role in his artwork. “The main inspirations I’ve been taking from are interiors that are familiar to me. I have a really deep connection with spaces and the way that humans interact inside a home,” he explains, adding “The figures are meant to embody the viewer and stand as something we can see in all of us.” Peep through a few examples throughout to check if you can see yourself within his work, and make sure you follow his Instagram account for more.
