Dissecting How We Look at the Body in Fashion Photography With ‘Posturing’
Members of creative initiative Ground Floor Project, Holly Hay and Shonagh Marshall, have joined forces with THE OUTNET for an upcoming fashion photography compilation entitled Posturing: Photographing the Body in Fashion. Together the curators have collected an assortment of contemporary fashion imagery including shots chosen from the archives of publications such as British Vogue, i-D, Interview, and The Gentlewoman. Each piece is clumped into a relevant category (casting, styling, location, props, and art direction), allowing viewers to explore the many avenues of editorial shoots. From the importance of the human body representing articles clothing to ways in which the body speaks to an audience through printed form, the project expands our understanding of a posed image.
In addition to the selected photographs, Posturing will include an exclusive Art Basel Miami screening of Filming the Body in Fashion followed by the March 2018 book unveiling of Posturing: Writing the Body in Fashion. First peep the visuals provided above and below from showcased photographers Reto Schmid, Lena C Emery, Brianna Capozzi, Marton Perlaki, Pascal Gambarte, Blommers and Schumm then check out the full show located at 10 Thurloe Place, Kensington from November 2nd to November 12th.
