Many of you—us included—would have either played a video game that involves you rampaging around in a car with a sole mission of fucking everything up from within the confines of your crazy automobile. Think Twisted Metal, Burnout, Blood Drive, hell… even GTA will have you gunning down pedestrians while on a set of wheels. Better still, if you’ve played Death Race, then you know exactly what to expect from the focus of this post. And if gaming was never your thing (which naturally makes you a freak), then perhaps the early film renditions of this cult classic will bring you up to speed (pun very much intended).
From the notorious mind of the “Pope of Pop Cinema” Roger Corman (of The Wild Angels, A Bucket of Blood, and Attack of The Crab Monsters fame, to name a few) comes Roger Corman’s Death Race 2050: a reebot of the original Death Race, obviously set in the year 2050. To hype up its blood, guts and oil, Corman has recently released a red band trailer giving us a taste of the horribly wonderful b-rated effects and acting that will surely fill the screen. Enjoy the full trailer in all its absurd glory above, and watch out for the Blu-ray combo pack, DVD and Digital HD release to come on January 17.
