Cleon Peterson Is Set To Display His Take On The Idea Of Victory With A New Exhibition In Paris
Renowned Los Angeles-based artist Cleon Peterson, is set to exhibit in Paris for a new show called “VICTORY.” The show comes off the heels of Cleon’s highly publicized mural under the Eiffel tower, which served as the first art piece ever installed at France’s most recognizable landmark. Along with that, Cleon has also been killing it with a series of shows across the world, an awesome set of screen prints, and two dope new sculptural collaborations with Belgium’s Case Studyo.
As for the VICTORY exhibition, Cleon asserts that, “This show explores the hedonistic triumphs of those who recognize themselves as victorious in the unfolding mirror of history. Their right to pleasure hinges on their projection of pain onto the unvictorious other. This often expresses itself in pleasure derived from the misfortune of the defeated. As the winners display their hubris and take their trophies the losers are left insignificant and marginalized. VICTORY explores one mans victory over another, what that victory looks like and the result that victory has on the losers.”
If you’re in the Paris area, be sure to check out VICTORY, which displays at Galerie du jour agnes b. from January 12 to February 18, 2017. As part of the upcoming show, a special signed screen print, 100 copies signed and numbered, will be available at the show.
