British Artist D*Face Pays Homage to Lost Love in new L.A. Exhibition “Happy Never Ending”
Famed British multi-medium artist D*Face has just tapped into a part of us that we all have, or inevitably will share: “the tragedy of losing someone you love,” the artist officially states. This is the theme that the his new series of work revolves around, a collection he’s aptly dubbed “Happy Never Ending,” and will features a new set of paintings, instillations, sculptures and limited edition print, all showcasing D*Face’s interpretation on pretty much the only aspects that are important in our existence: love and death.
The series comes classic to D*Face’s artistic style, a contemporary spin on retro comic art, with a good amount of skeletons in the mix–a motif we’re used to seeing from the Brit. All new artwork will be on show at Los Angeles’ Corey Helford Gallery, where D*Face himself–now a newly ordained minister–will be in attendance, officiating ceremonies for anyone couple wanting to tie the knot there and then. “For the show, I want to construct a mini chapel where we can actually hold a real ceremony and a graveyard in which I want people to leave mementos to the people they have lost.” Check out some examples of his new work throughout, then be sure to head over to the gallery space this Saturday 22 September, starting at 7PM. Also featuring at CHG on the same night is artist Kristen Liu-Wong–head here for more on that.
