Architect and visual artist Gemma Gené, has created a series of surreal illustrations and paintings that feature objects wrapped in metal. Gené’s work presents a startling effect by creating objects that appear to us as if their original state was metallic.
Her work in this series is presented on various mediums (wood, canvas), adding twists of charm, thus creating exciting contrasts between the objects and the medium they appear on. Her use of wood for example adds a depth and juxtaposition to the composition of the objects. Gené’s work may appear simplistic on the surface, but her deft use of shadow and reflection add an allure and depth to the pieces that only enhances the realism found throughout the series.
