“1st New Wave” is a Fire Tracklist of Upcoming R&B Talent from ATL Producer, FKi 1st
- Vanessa Feder
How many times can you remember liking a song just because the beat was hard and something about the melody made you feel good? You may have credited the lyricist for laying down a fire track but realized the producer was also to praise. FKi 1st is one of those producers who will make you put two hands in the air and say, “Good job 1st.” The pro Atlanta trap beat architect has blessed us with production for Post Malone’s “White Iverson,” Travis Porter’s “Bring It Back,” 2 Chainz’s “Watch Out,” and Jeremih’s “All The Time” just to name a few. Responsible for taking 7 records to Gold and Platinum status as well as releasing his first EP “First Time For Everything” with Mad Decent just shy of a year ago, the trap/rap connoisseur is expanding his talents to stay at the top.
After laying down some bossy lyrics on his own project release as well as touring with Post Malone, it was clear that FKi (which stands for Fuckin Kickin It) had an all-embracing love for diverse musical avenues. Recently he unveiled his “1st New Wave” playlist on Soundcloud. The artist adds new songs to the playlist periodically, bringing you the best of upcoming talents causing a stir in the music scene. Oh, and of course production from ATL’s booming hit machine himself. So far the month-old playlist features two tracks from Peruvian hip-hop/R&B lyricist A.Chal and new soulful joint from our very own Los Angeles-based curator, Anne Dereaux dubbed “Chop.” Listen to FKi’s New Wave above and follow the ongoing playlist for the latest in bourgeoning voices. Can’t wait for more? Check out 1st’s past efforts below and be on look out for his “First Time For Everything (Part 2)” effort coming soon.
